KIMS Med Student Dies Due to Complications of Septicemia
Hubballi, Karnataka: In a tragic turn of events, a 24-year-old first-year postgraduate medical student, Dr. Srishail allegedly succumbed to serious complication of septicemia on Friday. Dr. Srishail was attached to the cardiology department of the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), a native of Sindagi in Vijayapura district, sources said.
According to sources, Dr. Srishail had been experiencing loose stools for several days before being admitted for treatment on Tuesday. He reportedly continued working and taking medicines during this period.
Details surrounding the events leading to his passing remain unclear. Some sources claim that Dr. Srishail suffered a medical emergency while on duty Tuesday and was subsequently transferred to SDM Hospital. Reasons for the transfer vary, with some suggesting KIMS lacked trained interventional specialists, while others indicate a possible requirement for Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), a treatment unavailable at the institute.
Another theory points towards workload as a contributing factor. Sources allege that Dr. Srishail’s workload may have hindered his ability to prioritize recovery, leading to a delayed treatment of the underlying bacterial infection that ultimately caused sepsis.
